Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) seeks a Sewing Instructor for Miller Community Center in Seattle. Classes run Mondays 6:15pm–8:15pm with starts on Sep 9, 2026. Duties include preparing lessons, maintaining a safe learning space, and guiding beginners in sewing, embroidery, crochet, and basic mending.

Starting pay is $27.00/hr, with a full pay range of $25.00–$35.00/hr. ARC partners with Seattle Parks and Recreation to offer inclusive, engaging programs; PSST benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching art in a recreational, educational, or community setting (preferred).
• Experience working with seniors and/or young children (parent/tot).
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Prepare lesson plans, materials, and classroom setup/cleanup.
• Adapt instruction to meet participant needs and abilities.
• Communicate professionally with ARC staff, site supervisors, and participants/caregivers.
