Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a capable foreman to oversee on-site crews on highway and heavy civil projects. You will ensure safety, align with project specs, and manage work sequences to meet schedules on demanding sites.

You'll supervise crews, verify timecards, complete foreman reports, and coordinate with equipment teams. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and ability to work in all weather are essential for success at Ames Construction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years as pipe foreman/supervisor in highway heavy civil construction.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and practices.
  • Must be familiar with heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work with tools and equipment such as, power and non-power tools.
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb and periodically lift up to 50lbs.
  • Positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skills.
  • Time management, multitasking, and prioritization are crucial.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

  • Familiar with project specifications and ability to understand plans.
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Ensure crew time cards are filled out and submitted weekly.
  • Fill out daily foreman reports.
  • Analyze and resolve issues that may arise.
  • Ability to explain and understands survey and grade staking (Lasers, Transits, and GPS)
  • Manage all excavating activities for your crew.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Lifting and carrying material and objects. Exposed to high noise levels.
