Job summary

City of Memphis is seeking a Sewer Inspection Technician who will work under the zone supervisor of environmental inspection in the Public Works Division. The role involves conducting internal sewer line inspections using CCTV equipment, flow meters, and smoke testers to determine repair needs across the City and County.

You will locate line sections, guide workers, monitor equipment, record data, and prepare reports.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and one (1) year experience in sewer line maintenance and/or construction; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform job functions.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" Tennessee Commercial Driver's License with "N" tank endorsements and must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates internal pipe inspections of sewer lines using mobile television and CCTV equipment to diagnose repair needs.
• Records pertinent data and prepares reports of findings and actions taken.
• Communicates with workers and residents about sewer line conditions and procedures.
• Drives TV vans, wash trucks or pickups to work sites and assists with equipment setup.

Education
