An incumbent to a position in this class performs inspections of all construction and repair work on the city's sewer system. Work involves monitoring outside contractors and employees of the Sewer Authority to make certain work is performed in accordance with contract plans and specifications. Immediate supervision is received from the Chief Sewer Construction Inspector, however, incumbent exercises independent judgment in work stoppage if not in accordance with contract documents. Work is reviewed by the supervisor from daily reports submitted by the Sewer Construction Inspector. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Continuous and permanent status in any city department in one of the following:
NOTE: Applicants must have three (3) years of full-time construction activities; one year of which must have been in water or sewer excavation or underground pipeline work, repair or inspection.
Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for the above education and experience.
Possession of a current NYS Driver's License which must be presented at time of appointment and must be maintained during employment.
