Job summary

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority seeks a versatile utility technician helper to support sewer camera inspection operations and cleaning tasks across CFPUA sites. You will assist with remote-controlled camera equipment, set up at job sites, and help with manhole inspections and traffic safety measures.

The role involves lifting camera crawlers, maintaining equipment and vehicles, managing inventory, and training for advancement to camera operator.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six (6) months of work experience in sewer inspection or related field.
• NC Grade 1 Collection System Operator certification preferred.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation of remote-controlled sewer camera equipment and video monitors for inspection and cleaning.
• Prepare setup of equipment at job site including traffic control, manhole locations, and safety equipment.
• Lift and lower the camera crawler into and out of manholes.
• Clean equipment after use and perform routine maintenance of components.
• Maintain equipment and assigned vehicle in clean, proper working order and conduct regular maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and report non-operable items to supervisor.
• Train in camera operation and procedures for advancement to camera operator.
• Perform inventory/property management.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• In emergencies, all employees may be required to perform alternate duties.
