Job summary

Mier Temporary Staffing is seeking a Sewer in Greensboro, NC for a temporary-to-permanent, in-office role. You will operate industrial sewing machines to sew vinyl and other materials according to production requirements.

• Read and follow work orders, drawings, patterns, samples, and written or verbal instructions.
• Measure, align, position, and prepare materials for sewing.
• Perform straight stitching, seams, hems, binding, edging, reinforcement stitching, and other sewing operations.
• Inspect finished products for stitching quality, dimensions, alignment and appearance.
• Identify and correct defects and troubleshoot basic sewing machine issues.
• Follow production schedule and complete tasks within timelines.

Our client in Greensboro, NC is actively looking for aSewer to join their team.

Position Description:

• Operate industrial sewing machines to sew vinyl and other materials according to production requirements.
• Read and follow work orders, drawings, patterns, samples, and written or verbal instructions.
• Measure, align, position, and prepare materials prior to sewing.
• Perform straight stitching, seams, hems, binding, edging, reinforcement stitching, and other specialized sewing operations as required.
• Inspect finished products for proper stitching, dimensions, alignment, appearance, and overall quality.
• Identify and correct defects such as skipped stitches, loose or broken threads, uneven seams, puckering, incorrect dimensions, or material damage.
• Replace sewing machine needles as required.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic sewing machine issues and perform minor adjustments or repairs when necessary.
• Follow the production schedule and complete assigned work within required timelines.
• Work efficiently and effectively while handling a variety of tasks within the department.
• Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are maintained in a safe and proper operating condition.
• Report equipment malfunctions, production issues, defective materials, or other concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of production quantities and time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience operating industrial sewing machines.
• Ability to create, read, and follow sewing patterns.
• Working knowledge of sewing machine operation and basic mechanics.

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

• Work in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Properly use and wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Immediately report any health and safety concerns, hazards, incidents, or policy violations to the supervisor.
• Report any risks or potential risks of workplace violence or harassment to the supervisor.
• Never remove or disable protective devices or safety equipment without an approved temporary substitute.
• Operate all machinery, equipment, and tools in a safe manner that does not endanger yourself or others.
• Follow established safe work practices and procedures at all times.
• Attend all required Health and Safety training programs, including WHMIS and workplace orientation, and apply this knowledge to daily work activities.

Education:

• Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
