Job summary

Mohawk Industries, Inc. in Glasgow, VA is seeking a Sewing Operator for 1st Shift to support our carpet production line. You will operate a sewing machine and knife, ensuring accurate stitching and J-box alignment as carpet moves to the accumulator.

• Experience operating sewing machines preferred.
• Attention to detail for catching defects.

Responsibilities

• Operate sewing machine and knife and ensure they are sewn correctly.
• Run carpet in J-box and ensure it runs straight.
• Monitor J-box to ensure carpet enters accumulator correctly.
• Check for torn leaders or seams and re-sew to prevent tears.
• Inspect carpet as it rolls into the machine and report defects.

• Operate sewing machine and knife and ensuring that they are sewn in correctly.
• Run carpet in J-box making sure it is running in straight.
• Watch J-box to ensure carpet is entering accumulator in proper position.
• Watch for torn leader or seams and re-sew them to prevent tear outs.
• Inspect carpet as it rolls into the machine to alert supervisor of defects.
• Keep J-box and accumulator as full as possible at all times.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating procedures
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management
