Job summary

Seaway Plastics is seeking a Set-Up Technician in Santa Rosa, CA to prepare injection molding machines for production. Responsibilities include mold changes, machine start-ups, and set-ups while ensuring safety and quality; reliance on strong communication with production, maintenance, and QA to minimize downtime.

The role requires hands-on skills in mold setup, equipment operation, adherence to ISO/IQMS standards, and the ability to train operators.

Qualifications

• Experience in a molding/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate forklift.
• Familiarity with IQMS manufacturing software and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Install mold and all auxiliary equipment for peak production.
• Recognize and rectify issues in setup process.
• Set process parameters from process sheet information.
• Perform purging for material changes.
• Maintain professional conduct when interacting with customers.
• Produce quality parts to optimize cycle times and reduce scrap.
• Communicate with operators, supervisors, material handlers, QA, maintenance and tooling.
• Train machine operators on molding operations.
• Identify and report safety issues.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Meet scheduling due dates and maintain mold protection set points.
• Document optimum processing parameters.
• Back up Senior Process Engineer as needed.
• Operate IQMS and ISO systems and standards.
• Operate forklift and robotics tooling.

$25hour-$35hour Depending on Experience The Set-Up Technician is responsible for preparing injection molding machines for production by performing mold changes, machine start-ups, and equipment set-ups while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This hands-on role works closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality to minimize downtime and maintain smooth operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install mold and all auxiliary equipment necessary for production to perform at peak operating levels.
• Recognize and rectify any issues within the set up process.
• Set process parameters based on approved process sheet information.
• Perform proper purging methods for material changes.
• Maintain a professional attitude and work ethic, especially when working with customers. Perform decouple processing techniques when necessary.
• Create quality parts through obtained processing skills to optimize cycle times and minimize scrap
• Communicate effectively to operators, supervisors, material handlers, QA, maintenance and tooling.
• Encourage and train machine operators on the necessities of their current molding operation.
• Recognize and report safety issues.
• Maintain work area cleanliness and organization
• Execute and maintain scheduling due dates.
• Always maintain mold protection set points to the minimum operating values.
• Develop and thoroughly/accurately document optimum processing parameters.
• Back up Senior Process Engineer as necessary.
• Execute and comply with IQMS and ISO systems and standards.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to operate the installation and programming of robotics and end of arm tooling.
• Responsible for meeting standards for efficiencies, scrap, and safety.
