Set-Up TechnicianPositionSummary

Setup Technicians are responsible for the set-up and tear downs of injection molds in molding equipment, set-up of required auxiliary equipment, complete first piece inspection of production run, ensure equipment is running at prescribed cycle per work instructions, and assist, where necessary, press operators.

  • 9th: 6:00 pm-6:00 am Thursday through Saturday, every other Sunday
Responsibilities
  • Locate, transport, install and store injection molds in accordance with established guidelines Prepare auxiliary and second support equipment as required at thepress
  • Monitor presses and alarms and troubleshootissues
  • Follows proper setup checks and floor operationprocedures
  • Trouble shoot the manufacturing process todiagnoseand resolve anticipated or actual manufacturing problems that may affect productquality
  • Maintain part quality by completing audits and documenting defectiveparts
  • Clean molds
  • Understand the operating characteristics and capabilities of all manufacturing machinery, equipment, andcontrols
  • Develop and document set-up sheets as required for new tooling, major tooling changes, process changes, and specialtests
  • Keep the Engineering Department and the Master Scheduler informed about the technical status of new jobs andprojects
  • Verify documents and logs are accurate and completed in a timelymanner
  • Reads and complies with work instructions, set up sheets, andchecklists
  • Enters production information into the ERP system on a timelybasis
  • Accurately records and reports hoursworked
  • Maintains an organized work area (5S) to include workstations, equipment, walkways, and lockerrooms
  • Participates in the Operational Excellence Program
  • Understands and complies with the Cretex professional competencies, company policies, and employeemanual
  • Adheres to all safety policies; includes wearing personal protective equipment whenrequired
  • Supports and complies with the company's Quality System, ISO, and medical devicerequirements
  • Completes all other work duties asassigned
Qualifications
  • Ability to perform set-up for new molds and highly complex molds asdirected
  • Knowledge of plastic resins, mold setup and functions of an injection molding press
  • Ability to create and route reports andcommunications
  • Ability to present information to individuals or smallgroups
  • Knowledge of basic Math
  • Ability to operate a forklift and overheadcranes
  • Ability to promote and maintain a safe workenvironment
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, comprehend, follow and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and trainingdocuments

Set-Up Technician Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
Pay Range
USD $20.38 - USD $29.52 /Hr.
