Job summary

GlobalTec is seeking a Setup Technician in Michigan to ensure on-time production of quality products, perform machine setup, and assist with operator training. The role requires rotating through materials, tooling, and troubleshooting, with collaboration between engineering and maintenance for new equipment deployment.

Education includes a High School Diploma or GED and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification; Class 3 IPC certification or willingness to obtain is required.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, or spec sheets.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification required; Class 3 IPC certification or willingness to obtain.
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to document processes.

Responsibilities

• Process 1st pieces for pull test and crimp height measurements.
• Set-up workstations with proper materials and documentation (ITP and 1310 forms).
• Set up production machinery safely and ensure safety features are applied.
• Follow production schedule and area lead priorities.
• Identify and document reject materials per protocol.
• Assist maintenance with preventative maintenance of equipment and applicators.
• Backfill during light production to support operations.
• Assist with scrap reduction and continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow inventory transaction standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Responsible for ensuring on-time production of quality product, process troubleshooting and machine setup. The Setup Technicians' role requires them to rotate through all functions of the role; materials, tool changes and troubleshooting. Assist the Lead and assistant leads in helping train and coach operators in the functional aspect of the equipment. Work collaboratively with engineering and maintenance in the introduction of new equipment and the development of new programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process 1st pieces for pull test and crimp height measurements
• Set-up workstations with proper materials and documentation such as ITP and 1310 forms.
• Set up production machinery in a safe manner and ensure all safety features are applied.
• Follow production schedule and prioritization as defined by the area lead.
• Follow proper protocol for identifying and documenting reject materials.
• Assist maintenance in the preventative maintenance of equipment and applicators.
• If production is light, backfill balance of day assisting production.
• Assist with scrap reduction continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Understand and follow inventory transactions standards
• All other duties assigned

EDUCATION and TRAINING:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified. Class 3 IPC certified or willing / able to become class 3 IPC certified.
• Basic computer skills responsibility (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Fundamental knowledge and use of termination equipment.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY:

• Strong Mechanical aptitude
• Demonstrate the ability to read blueprints, technical drawings and or spec sheets.
