Job summary

SMC, Ltd. in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking a Set-up Technician to support production by preparing molds, performing cleanings, and ensuring safe, efficient machine setup for Injection Molding processes.

You will collaborate with Supervisors, Manufacturing Associates, and Engineers to maintain quality and timely delivery. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, strong math and counting skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; electrical and hydraulic training preferred.
• Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be proficient in counting and math.
• Familiarity with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily priorities from daily production sheet.
• Conduct daily mold cleaning on all IMM.
• Install and remove mold from IMM following PSS.
• Conduct molds cleaning before setup to prevent contamination on production.
• Maintain 5S on Molding Machine, hoses and die carts.
• Participate to restart all Injection Molding Machines on Mondays.
• Perform checks on crane prior to use.
• Follow ISO procedures when defined including all Clean Room protocols.
• Utilize fork lift as necessary to move molds.
• Return Fixtures or auxiliary equipment to the store room at end of production run.
• Perform all tasks in a safe manner.
• Regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

In the role of a Set-up Technician, you will be responsible to perform other related duties in conjunction with other employees and departments contributing to the overall team effort, efficient process, and safe working environment. Assist the shift Supervisor, Manufacturing Associates, Production Planner and Engineers. Position includes many essential components necessary for successful and efficient manufacturing, and as such, shares full responsibility for the final product delivered to the customer.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

• Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift or otherwise move about frequently and for extended periods of time
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. frequently, or more occasionally
• Walk, stand or otherwise move about continuously
• Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
• Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer

The environment includes a variety of physical conditions, such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current and working on ladders.
