Sessional Lecturer - CTL7013H - Arts in Education (Visual Arts)

Course number and title: CTL7013H - Arts in Education (Visual Arts)

Course description: An introduction to research-informed teaching and professional learning in Visual Arts Education for students in grades 4 to 10. For each of these disciplines, the course explores Ministry curriculum, lesson design and planning, pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, and research in light of contemporary educational theory and practice. This course is open only to students in the Master of Teaching program.

Class schedule: Tuesday 09:00 - 12:00

Sessional dates of appointment: 2026-09-01 - 2027-04-30

Appointment percentage: 33.33

Salary: As of September 1, 2026, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. As of January 1, 2027, the minimum stipend is $9972.475 (inclusive of vacation pay) for a half credit course. Salary may be prorated based on the appointment percentage.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Should possess a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience,
  • Must demonstrate currency and mastery in the course subject matter;
  • Must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including online teaching as relevant;
  • Must demonstrate evidence of knowledge and practice of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion;
  • Must demonstrate excellence in teaching and leading teachers/teacher-candidates' professional learning;
  • An Ontario Teaching certificate is an asset.
