Job description

Job title: Sessional Community Support Worker

Salary: National Minimum Wage

Location: Various projects across Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, County Durham & Tees Valley

About the role

Working in our Land and Communities team, you will engage with targeted participants who are involved with specific projects. You will be supporting our Project Team with the delivery of projects across the North East. Examples of projects may include:

  • Holiday Activity and Food Programmes, providing activities for children during school holidays (Easter, Summer and Christmas)
  • Green Links, our dementia friendly project
  • Active Play, a weekly children’s activity programme
  • Community Learning, adult courses which provide opportunities to learn new skills
  • Men’s Sheds, providing an outdoor space for men to meet and connect

There is flexibility for Sessional Community Support Workers to work on the projects that they are most suited to and to specify preferred geographical areas.

This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure endorsed by the Disclosure and Barring Service

About you

With experience of working with specific groups such as children, young people or vulnerable adults, or the willingness to learn, you will feel confident supporting the delivery of a diverse programme of community led projects providing a professional high-quality service that meets the needs of participants, partners and funders. Comfortable working as part of a team, you should be able to follow direction and be able to build effective relationships with other members of staff, volunteers, participants and external partners.

You should be enthusiastic and flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to encourage and engage effectively with project participants.

This role may suit you if you have recently graduated in a relevant subject area, or are a student looking to develop your skills and experience during the holidays. We will accept applications from applicants 16 years old and over.
