Job summary

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is seeking an experienced Servo/Fiber Technician III-IV - Technical Specialist I-II to support operations, maintenance and fabrication of antenna motion control electronics and fiber optic hardware at the VLA site near Socorro, NM.

This position blends bench work with field duties, including climbing antennas, and requires strong problem-solving skills and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher required.
• Minimum two years related experience; servo and fiber experience preferred.
• Ability to work at heights and outdoors when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Support assembly, testing, troubleshooting of ACUs and servo systems.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on RF and fiber optic hardware.
• Respond to emergency call-outs as needed.
