Job summary

Diocese of Green Bay Allouez Catholic Cemetery seeks a dedicated staff member to support burial, entombment and interment services and to maintain cemetery grounds and mausoleum facilities. The role requires a commitment to respectful service for families during times of loss and to follow Catholic rites and traditions.

Primary responsibilities include coordinating interments, operating essential equipment, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across all cemetery areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Familiar with cemetery and mausoleum operations preferred.
• Must possess a valid WI driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge of backhoe and skid steer operation preferred (will train).
• Understanding of Christian Burial Rites and Traditions preferred.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow regulations.
• Good communication with families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, performs burials, entombments and inurnments.
• Participates in upkeep and maintenance of cemetery grounds and mausoleum facilities.
• Communicates respectfully with families, funeral directors, and staff.
• Works with maps, orders, and lot cards to ensure correct interments.
• Adheres to Catholic teachings and ethical standards in all tasks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Cemetery & Mausoleum Services Supervisor, performs burials, entombments and inurnment duties and participates in the overall upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery grounds and mausoleum facilities.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Familiar with layout of cemetery and mausoleum preferred.
• Working knowledge of cemetery and mausoleum operations and equipment preferred.
• Must possess a valid WI driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge of backhoe and skid steer operation preferred (will train).
• Basic understanding of Christian Burial Rites and Traditions preferred.
• Working knowledge of safety issues, both internal and by governing agencies, preferred (will train).
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Proficient mechanical skills.

• Communicate well with superiors and colleagues; customers/families; vendors and suppliers; funeral home directors; clergy and other parish personnel.
