Job Description Summary

The Service Assistant supports the Weitzman School of Design’s Operations and Planning/Design and Construction Office. Responsibilities include managing audio/visual equipment, mail and package distribution, assembling materials, troubleshooting mechanical issues, reporting building problems, maintaining makerbot suite, moving heavy objects, supporting events and classrooms, and undertaking project work. Experience with audio/visual equipment is required. The role reports to the Director of Operations and Planning/Design and Construction and requires independence, customer service orientation, proficiency with tools, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally move equipment between 100-500 pounds.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform project work as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and trades issues, report building problems.
  • Support event and classroom AV and furniture needs.
  • Distribute mail, packages, and materials.
  • Lift and move heavy objects/materials.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2-3 years of experience or equivalent.
  • Experience with audio-visual equipment.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to move actively and use tools requiring dexterity.
  • Customer service and teamwork skills, able to communicate across organizational levels.
  • Basic reading, writing, and performance assessment skills.
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, lift, and move equipment up to 500 pounds, including unassisted lifting of 50 pounds.
