Job summary

GDIT is seeking a ServiceNow Developer Principal to design, implement, and optimize ITAM, HAM, and SAM solutions within government-focused projects. The role emphasizes CMDB health, CSDM alignment, data governance, and platform integrations to deliver scalable ITAM capabilities.

You will lead architecture, scripting, and module optimization while mentoring junior developers and collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in ServiceNow CMDB and ITAM, including SAM and HAM.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing SAM, HAM, and CSDM structures to ensure compliance, lifecycle tracking and cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with full-cycle SAM and/or HAM implementations.
  • Understanding of software licensing metrics and physical hardware asset lifecycles from procurement to disposal.
  • Experience with ServiceNow platform architecture, Flow Designer, and Integration Hub.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, AngularJS, JSON, and REST/SOAP web services.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and Performance Analytics.
  • Experience with ITSM or ITOM modules.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, troubleshoot issues, and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of Agile software testing process and lifecycle from smoke test to deployment.
  • Ability to identify, document, and create functionality aligning with customer value streams.
  • Ability to estimate effort and basic deployment plans for ServiceNow functionality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; quick to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and automate enterprise IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Configuration Management Database (CMDB) capabilities.
  • Design and configure SAM and HAM workflows, including license entitlements, software models, normalization, reclamation, and lifecycle management.
  • Align platform design with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM). Maintain CMDB health by configuring Data Certification, Discovery, Reconciliation, and Health Assessments.
  • Design customized scripts, Script Includes, Business Rules, Flow Designer, and Service Portal widgets to support ITAM operational requirements.
  • Design and build integrations between ServiceNow and external data sources (e.g., SCCM, Jamf, Intune, Active Directory, Coupa) using IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Server configurations.
  • Establish robust data governance policies for hardware and software assets, ensuring audit-readiness and adherence to industry licensing models.
  • Design, configure, and customize ServiceNow applications using JavaScript, Glide API, business rules, client scripts, and Flow Designer.
  • Lead or support the implementation and optimization of core SPM modules (Demand Management, PPM, Resource Management, Financial Planning).
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate into technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical and functional documentation and support platform upgrade activities.
  • Contribute to IT-related process reviews, postmortems, and continual improvement.
  • Create estimations on effort required to produce ServiceNow functionality and provide guidance; mentor junior developers.

As a ServiceNow Developer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role via the following:

  • Contribute to IT-related technical processes reviews, postmortems, and continual process improvement
  • Create estimations on effort required to produce ServiceNow functionality
  • Provide technical guidance, perform code reviews, create architectural documentation, and mentor junior developers to ensure adherence to best practices
  • Maintain current ServiceNow and industry certifications, while obtaining additional certifications

The likely salary range for this position is $119,984 - $162,329. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
