Role: ServiceNow Developer | Administrator
Location: Remote
Duration: Initial Term: Six Months
Start Date: March 4, 2025
Eligibility: U.S. Citizen

We are seeking a ServiceNow Developer for a rapidly growing, local client. This role will be 100% remote on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend and possibly go permanent.

About the Job

The ServiceNow Specialist is a certified ServiceNow Administrator (CSA) with senior-level experience in Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and/or Application Portfolio Management (APM).

The SPM Specialist leverages expertise in the platform to create customized solutions for managing project portfolios, resource allocation, and overall strategic initiatives. They collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into functional ServiceNow applications. A strong understanding of strategic portfolio management concepts—such as project prioritization, resource allocation, financial planning, and performance metrics—is essential.

The APM Specialist uses the platform to provide a comprehensive view of an organization’s application landscape, facilitating informed decision-making regarding application rationalization, optimization, and investment strategies. They leverage data analysis and reporting capabilities within the APM module and must have deep CMDB experience, including implementing or maintaining a services-based CSDM structure.

You will work in a fast-paced Agile environment supporting the ServiceNow Platform. Responsibilities include administering and supporting multiple FedRamp ServiceNow instances to meet the unique business needs of users and stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, business analysts, developers, and product owners, to develop and implement solutions across different applications on the ServiceNow Platform.

Responsibilities
  • Configure and develop the ServiceNow platform, including routine changes and adjustments.

  • Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain the ServiceNow platform.

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly system monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of ServiceNow applications.

  • Collaborate with Platform and Delivery teams to perform ServiceNow upgrades and patching.

  • Coordinate system updates across different instances, ensuring patches and configuration changes are applied.

  • Assist with report configuration, dashboards, and maintenance, while performing operational administrative tasks as needed.

  • Collaborate with teammates to conduct code reviews and discuss new developments.

  • Provide support for Production and non-prod instances.

  • Work with Production Support and ServiceNow Operations teams to monitor support cases.

  • Document administrative processes and issue resolutions.

  • Engage with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.

  • Participate in daily scrum meetings and Agile ceremonies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the ServiceNow platform.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow Platform Administration.

  • 5+ years of experience with ServiceNow applications, including Incident, Problem, Change Management, Knowledge, Service Catalog, ITOM/CMDB, SPM, and APM.

  • Current ServiceNow System Administrator (CSA) certification required.

  • Priority consideration given to candidates with a ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification in SPM and/or APM.

  • Strong experience in system administration and JavaScript.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and diagnose performance-related concerns.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Preferred Skills
  • ServiceNow Development, Administration, and Integration experience.

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification.

  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist for SPM.

  • ITIL v3 or ITIL v4 certification.

SPM (Strategic Portfolio Management) Requirements
  • Previously known as ITBM (IT Business Management) and before that as PPM (Project Portfolio Management).

  • Experience required in SPM modules, including:

    • Ideation

    • Demand Management

    • Project, Program, and Portfolio Management

    • Resource Management and Assignments

    • Time Cards, Time Sheets, and Rate Models

    • Strategic Portfolio Workspace

    • Project and Resource Manager Workspaces

    • Investment Portal

  • Candidates should be able to:

    • Describe their support, configurations, and development experience within these modules.

    • Specify their role in module implementation (if applicable).

    • Confirm whether an implementation partner was used.

APM (Application Portfolio Management) Requirements
  • Now known as Enterprise Architecture (EA).

  • Sits on top of CMDB data, requiring experience with business applications, services, and capabilities.

  • A mature CMDB is typically structured according to the Common Services Data Model (CSDM).

  • Candidates with only reporting experience will not be considered.
