Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Service Writer/Auto Service Porter to document repair requests, coordinate vehicle movements, track repair status, and communicate with operators, mechanics, and vendors. You will review maintenance history, enter service requests, and assign tasks to mechanics to keep vehicles available.

Duties

The Service Writer/Auto Service Porter receives and documents vehicle repair requests, coordinates the movement and servicing of vehicles, tracks repair status, and communicates with vehicle operators, mechanics, vendors, and other Fleet personnel to support timely vehicle repairs and availability. Greets vehicle operators, listens to reported vehicle problems, and communicates vehicle status. Reviews vehicle maintenance history, identifies reported service needs, and enters service requests. Schedules, prioritizes, and tracks repair work and service requests. Assigns service requests to mechanics as directed. Reviews completed work orders for required information, records mechanic labor time, and closes work orders. Coordinates outside repairs, recalls, and warranty work with vendors and dealerships. Coordinates with parts personnel regarding parts availability. Requests wrecker service when needed. Moves vehicles between the shop, dealerships, parking areas, and designated locations. Monitors the location and condition of vehicles in the repair area. Operates City vehicles safely and responsibly. Maintains all required licenses, certifications, and professional credentials. Works the assigned schedule and complies with City attendance and timekeeping policies. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED. Valid Texas driver's license and good driving record. PREFERRED: One (1) year of experience in automotive service, fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, dealership service, or a related field. Experience using a computerized work-order or maintenance management system. Automotive or vehicle maintenance-related training or experience.
