Job summary

United Ag & Turf is seeking a Service Operations Manager to optimize the Service Department workflows, maximize service labor sales, and control expenses while mentoring staff to deliver exceptional customer experiences across Texas locations.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and practical knowledge of John Deere products; the team focuses on timely work orders, warranty processing, and effective client interactions to uphold the dealership’s standards.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in Service Department operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to lead a team and hold people accountable.
• Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
• Understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations.
• Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the entire work order cycle from generation through closing and invoicing.
• Sell service labor and parts ensuring technicians are productive to meet budgets and goals.
• Collaborate with Service Manager to identify and implement process improvements.
• Communicate and enforce effective Service Department processes for customer satisfaction.
• Schedule and assign jobs to employees based on skills and knowledge.
• Review work orders for accuracy prior to billing.
• Ensure warranty and product improvement programs are completed on time.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.
• Coach and develop staff, fostering growth and capability.
• Participate in company training to advance knowledge and skills.
• Maintain positive relationships with peers and management to uphold team standards.

Purpose

Manages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities

• Manages the entire work order cycle process; generation through closing and invoicing for customer and internal work
• Sells service labor and parts ensuring all techs are highly productive so that budgets and goals are met
• Works with Service Manager to identify and execute continuous process improvements
• Communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
• Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge
• Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing
• Ensures all service Warranty and Product Improvement Programs are completed, submitted to Centralized Warranty Administrator within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit
• Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
• Actively coaches, develops and helps employees grow their capabilities
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet based functions
• Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
