Job summary

FleetPride is the largest after-market distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts in the U.S., seeking a Service Writer to relay estimates, scheduling, and work details to customers. You will support the Service Manager and Technicians, prepare invoices, open repair orders, and manage payments while coordinating road calls and keeping accurate records.

This role requires a high school diploma, solid mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers, and proficient PC skills with G-Suite,

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, explain information relative to repairs being performed, schedule repairs, address complaints.
• Support Service Manager and Technicians with daily needs.
• Prepare invoices, open repair orders, reports, memos, letters, financial statements and other documents, using Google Sheets and Excel.
• Determine the status of the customer account and any payment needs prior to scheduling the work.
• Answer telephones, direct calls and take messages.
• Obtain authorization for all credit card payments and process payments by credit card, cash, and charge account.
• Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, manually or using a computer.
• Estimate, schedule and invoice repairs in a knowledgeable manner.
• Coordinate road call requirements.
• Follow up to be sure work is performed in a timely manner.
• Control costs, issue purchase orders and make all required arrangements to facilitate the road call.
• Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, parts for incoming jobs, maintaining records management systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work.
• Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
• Responsible for cash drawer/petty cash.
• Maintain a clean and organized office area.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• High school diploma

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• This requires a firm mechanical understanding of trucks and trailers.
• Average PC skills are required.
• G-Suite, Excel, word preferred.
