Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Repair trucks and trailers including tire repair and/or replacement, fuel filter replacement, jump starting trucks or refrigerated trailers, battery and alternator replacement, trailer door seal and dolly leg replacement, trailer door and hardware replacement, wheel seal replacement, air brake system repairs, coolant leak repairs, patching holes in trailer roof, side panels, and floor, electrical and lighting repairs, suspension and air ride system repairs, weld and repair mud flap brackets, ICC bumpers, and other components that may need welding.
• Conduct repairs that can be completed outside of the shop building.
• Communicate with Shop Manager or Road Breakdown via cell phone or 2‑way radio.
• Fill out work orders and document parts used and labor times for completed repairs.
• Drive service truck from shop to service site and back, keeping the truck fueled and maintained for operational readiness and cleanliness.
• Keep service truck parts inventoried and restock parts as needed, taking along parts likely required for on‑site repairs.
• Perform any additional duties requested by the shop manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Mechanic aptitude and ability to operate shop tools and air tools.
• Operate a service truck.
• Ability to read shop service manuals.
• Work independently.
• Ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2 years of truck and trailer repair experience.
• Ability to read and write.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry experience.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
