Job summary

MES, established leader in PPE and fire services, is hiring a Service Technician to inspect, test, and maintain portable fire extinguishers at our Warren, OH location. You will perform routine inspections, diagnose issues, and ensure compliance with fire codes.

The role requires strong attention to detail, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and excellent customer communication as you interact with clients and document activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in portable fire extinguishers is preferred.
• Relevant experience in inspecting and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
• Knowledge of local fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Wait on any incoming portable fire extinguisher customers.
• Inspection and Testing: Conduct routine inspections and tests of portable fire extinguishers to ensure proper functioning.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in all portable fire extinguishers brought into the shop.
• Compliance: Ensure all portable fire extinguishers comply with relevant fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs. Generate reports as needed for clients, authorities, or internal use.
• Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to explain the status of their portable fire extinguishers, address concerns, and provide recommendations for improvements.

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot problems in all portable fire extinguishers brought into the shop.
• Compliance: Ensure all portable fire extinguishers comply with relevant fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and repairs. Generate reports as needed for clients, authorities, or internal use.
• Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to explain the status of their portable fire extinguishers, address concerns, and provide recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in portable fire extinguishers is preferred.
• Relevant experience in inspecting and maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
• Knowledge of local fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment/systems, small engine repair, firefighting equipment, work as a mechanic, electrician, or previous experience with hydraulics.
• Familiarity with portable fire extinguisher equipment is a plus, but we will train!
