Job summary

Southern Tire Mart in Des Moines is seeking a tire technician to mount, balance and repair tires across trucks and industrial vehicles. You will diagnose mechanical issues, perform PM inspections and respond to roadside service calls with a service truck when needed.

This role requires lifting up to 250 lbs, a valid driver's license, and overtime flexibility. We offer 401(k) with match, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid on-the-job training.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
• Able to lift/move tires weighing 30-250 lbs, with or without aids.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Mount, balance, rotate and repair tires for cars, light and heavy trucks.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on large trucks and trailers.
• Perform PM inspections and fleet maintenance.
• Operate service truck and respond to roadside calls when needed.
• Assist with inventory loading, unloading and counts.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies.

Job description

Mount, balance, rotate, and repair tires across various vehicle types: passenger cars, light trucks, large trucks, and industrial vehicles.

Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

Commercial Tires

HVAC systems

Brakes

PM Inspections

Drivetrain

Electrical Systems

Conduct fleet inspections and routine maintenance.

Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic regulations.

Respond to roadside service calls using a service truck (F-350), when needed.

Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Assist with inventory loading, unloading, and physical counts.

Participate in ongoing training, follow safety protocols, and uphold company policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education & Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

• Possible overtime may be required.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Experience with heavy-duty or commercial tires preferred (not required).

Ability to lift/move tires weighing between 30-250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids.

Ability to perform physically demanding work involving repetitive motion, forceful exertion, and working in awkward postures or under vibration.

• Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Overtime maybe required.
