Job summary

Southern Tire Mart is seeking a tire technician to mount, balance, rotate and repair a range of tires from passenger cars to large trucks and industrial vehicles. You will diagnose mechanical issues on semis and trailers and conduct routine fleet inspections and maintenance.

The role requires lifting heavy tires, flexibility for overtime and hours including evenings/weekends/holidays, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Overtime may be required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Experience with heavy-duty or commercial tires preferred.
• Ability to lift/move tires weighing 30–250 lbs with or without mechanical aids.
• Physically demanding work with repetitive motion, exertion and vibration.
• Flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Mount, balance, rotate and repair tires for passenger cars, light trucks, heavy trucks and industrial vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on semis and trailers (brakes, HVAC, electrical, drivetrains).
• Conduct fleet inspections and routine maintenance.
• Respond to roadside service calls with a service truck when needed.
• Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with traffic regulations.
• Assist with inventory loading, unloading and counts.
• Participate in ongoing training and follow safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Mount, balance, rotate, and repair tires across various vehicle types: passenger cars, light trucks, large trucks, and industrial vehicles.

Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on semi-trucks and trailers, including:

Commercial Tires

HVAC systems

Brakes

PM Inspections

Drivetrain

Electrical Systems

Conduct fleet inspections and routine maintenance.

Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic regulations.

Respond to roadside service calls using a service truck (F-350), when needed.

Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Assist with inventory loading, unloading, and physical counts.

Participate in ongoing training, follow safety protocols, and uphold company policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education & Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

• Possible overtime may be required.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Experience with heavy-duty or commercial tires preferred (not required).

Ability to lift/move tires weighing between 30-250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids.

Ability to perform physically demanding work involving repetitive motion, forceful exertion, and working in awkward postures or under vibration.
