Job description

Schematic Works is a 360 service center supporting the photo and motion industry. Our services: lighting repairs, distro install and maintenance, and cyc builds. With partnerships across leading lighting manufacturers, we support rental houses, studios, production stages, owner-operators, schools, and other entities within the entertainment industry. We handle warranty repairs for Astera, Briese, Creamsource, Hive, and Nanlux, and service ARRI, Broncolor, K5600, LiteGear, Profoto, and more. We don't produce and we don't rent. We're focused solely on supporting your equipment and servicing your studio.

We're hiring a full-time service technician with a focus on Astera, ARRI, and LiteGear, working across professional lighting and grip equipment. You own the diagnostic and repair cycle: diagnose, define scope and options, and execute to manufacturer specs, with clean documentation handed off to operations for estimates and invoicing.

We're looking for a strong electronics technician who can take a repair from diagnosis through to a finished, in-spec unit. This is a core position in a small, growing shop: your bench directly drives our turnaround times, our manufacturer relationships, and our reputation with clients. As we scale, there is room to grow into senior and lead responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose Astera, ARRI, LiteGear, and other professional lighting systems and identify repair scope and options
  • Execute warranty and non-warranty repairs to manufacturer specifications
  • Support repairs on grip equipment, cable systems, and distro as needed
  • Document diagnosis, parts, labor, and timeline in Fixably and hand off complete repair information to the operations manager for estimates and invoicing
  • Coordinate parts needs with the operations manager
  • Follow quality and safety standards on every job
  • Contribute to workflow and process improvements
  • Maintain your workspace and tools
Qualifications
  • Professional lighting equipment repair experience in the photo, motion, stage, or live entertainment industry required; seasoned bench technicians strongly preferred
  • Hands-on repair experience with HMI and LED fixtures; deep LED experience is essential
  • Strong diagnostic skills using a multimeter; light meter, color meter, bench power supply, and oscilloscope experience a bonus
  • Able to read schematics, exploded views, and service manuals
  • ESD protocol knowledge
  • Knowledge of DMX, on-set operations, and entertainment industry terminology a plus
  • Proficient on Mac OS and Windows; working knowledge of Fixably and Slack
  • Confident in email and phone communication; able to communicate technical information clearly to customers and the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Works autonomously within manufacturer specifications
Compensation and Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage following 90-day probation period
  • 80 hours PTO + 11 paid holidays
  • SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match, eligibility at six months
