Job summary

USA Compression Partners, LP is seeking a full-time hourly technician to maintain and repair idle natural gas compression units across our storage yards. You will perform scheduled maintenance, reconfigure cylinder arrangements, and help with loading, unloading, and inventory tasks in a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications include technical certification or related experience, 2+ years in gas compression, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work independently and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor maintenance on idle units as needed.
• Reconfigure compressor cylinder arrangements for new contracts.
• Assist in loading/unloading and operate lifting equipment safely.
• Maintain parts inventory and ensure safe working conditions.

Key Business Objectives:

Responsible for the preservation, make ready repair, short and long term storage maintenance and the reconfiguration of USA Compression idle equipment, reporting to the Operations Service Manager (OSM). All USA Compression employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understand and follow all safety and environmental policies.
• Preserve and seal idle units as they return to the storage yards.
• Roll over and re-preserve units that remain idle on a 180 day rotation.
• Repair packages and make ready for redeployment into active status.
• Perform major and minor scheduled maintenance procedures on idle units as necessary.
• Reconfigure compressor cylinder arrangements as required to meet new contract needs.
• Repair and maintain the heavy equipment inventory (HEI).
• General housekeeping by helping to keep warehouse facilities and yards free from trash and debris.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of units as they enter and leave the storage yards. Safely operate truck mounted cranes, fork lifts and other portable lifting equipment.
• Maintain company vehicle according to company guidelines.
• Help maintain parts inventory for storage yards.
• Keep units clean and maintain safe working conditions.
• Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
• Full-time hourly position.

Skills/Capabilities and Education:

• Technical or trade school certification or additional work experience in related field.
• Preferred at least 2 years of experience in natural gas compression.
• Valid driver’s license with a Motor Vehicle Record history acceptable to USA Compression. Good communication/interface skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other tech teams.
• Ability to operate independently with little or no supervision.
• High degree of mechanical ability.
• Experience reading and understanding technical manuals.
• Experience in configuring natural gas compression equipment.
• Ability to work extended hours.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.
• Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.

Working Conditions:

• Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements.
• Exposure to extremes in temperature and weather conditions depending upon assigned location.
• Some exposure to high noise levels in excess of 85dBA that require ear protection, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.
