Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a dedicated field technician to help customers and teammates by diagnosing issues, planning effective remedies, and ensuring needs are met.

You will inspect, maintain, and repair water and wastewater systems including pumps, valves, motors, and lift stations, travel 10–15% for on-site service, and possibly work overtime or on-call. Opportunities exist for advancement based on performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to use general business software and hardware (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Excel, Adobe Acrobat; smartphone/tablet).
  • Small to medium water and sewer utility systems knowledge and troubleshooting ability preferred.
  • Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, construction, or related fields preferred.
  • DOT medical card and unrestricted driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair water and wastewater systems including pumps, valves, motors, lift stations, wells, and other systems.
  • Work schedule is 7:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. Monday–Friday with possible overtime.
  • Travel to customer locations; 10–15% travel required.
  • May need to work on-call.
  • Opportunities for advancement into higher-level technical positions based on performance.

Job description

  • Assist customers and other employees by performing repairs, troubleshooting issues, evaluating and understanding their individual needs and formulating a plan to ensure they are met
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair a variety of water and wastewater systems including pumps, valves, motors, lift stations, wells, and other systems
  • Work on an assigned work schedule of 7:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Monday - Friday, with the ability to work overtime hours as needed
  • Travel to customer locations, with some out state travel required (10% - 15% of the time)
  • May need to work on-call
  • Opportunities for advancement into higher-level technical positions based on performance and development.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be able to use general business software (Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Excel, Adobe Acrobat) and hardware (smartphone/tablet, notebook computer, etc.)
  • Small to medium water and sewer utility systems knowledge, troubleshooting ability and equipment maintenance experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, construction, or related fields is highly preferred
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card and unrestricted driver’s license with acceptable MVR
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions, and follow OSHA, MSHA, DOT, DEQ, EPA, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards
  • Ability and willingness to learn continuously through training and independently are essential for this position
