Job description

Portables Fire Equipment, Restaurant/Suppression Service Technician:

MARTIN MACK FIRE & SAFETY EQUIPMENT is looking to hire experienced (willing to train) Portable fire equipment & Restaurant/Suppression service technicians.

Service Technicians will be friendly and engaging with customers, inspect, install, and quote portable fire equipment, inspect fire extinguishers and emergency lights.

We are seeking a Kitchen Fire Suppression Technician. This position requires the ability to service, inspect, and repair kitchen suppression systems for established commercial customers on a scheduled basis.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Understand and implement the concepts and principles of NFPA 10, 12, 12A, 17, 17A and 96.
  2. Perform semi-annual inspections on Restaurant/Suppression, Portable fire equipment.
  3. Perform installation of restaurant portable fire equipment systems as required.
  4. Complete inspection worksheets and any other appropriate paperwork for customers.
  5. Verify that proper fire extinguishers and fire extinguisher placement is in place.
  6. Identify any systems NOT compliant with the latest NFPA standards.
  7. Maintain good relationships with existing and new customers, creating a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
  8. Timely response to fire calls.
  9. Responsible to operate any vehicle they drive in a safe manner and drive defensively.
  10. At all times, the vehicle they drive must be in compliance with DOT regulations, weight, placarding, etc.
  11. Any exceptions are to be reported to the shop foreman, scheduler/router or division manager immediately.
  12. Advise customers of any necessary fire code regulations and/or changes required at their place of business.
  13. Responsible for collecting COD as indicated, for any customers that they are servicing.
  14. Responsible to complete any duties that the route supervisor would assign.
  15. On a timely basis, in a neat manner, with the required information established by the office staff, complete required paperwork.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  1. If Restaurant systems workload is slow on inspections, restaurant technician will report to the Division Manager and will be scheduled to perform Portables Fire equipment calls as directed.
  2. Fill/hydro system bottles and scrap unusable restaurant system bottles at an hourly rate, to be determined.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  1. Valid driver’s license
  2. HS diploma/GED
  3. Ability to be available full time and possibly long hours
  4. Applicant must currently live in service area and be available for immediate hire
  5. Must be able to pass background checking and have a clean driving record
  6. Strong customer service and communication skills
  7. Hand and power tool usage experience a plus
  8. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
  9. Will train
