Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas Inc is hiring a full-time HVAC Service Technician IV for the Washington DC area. You will lead a team of up to 10 technicians, oversee maintenance contracts, and ensure timely, cost-effective installations of rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and more.

The role includes mentoring junior staff, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting sales with site surveys. Local travel and safety training per policy are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree or HVAC certification preferred.
• 7+ years of related experience or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Licenses or training cards as required by local law.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as needed.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Current first aid/CPR card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for up to 10 HVAC technicians.
• Ensure timely start-up of maintenance contracts and efficient installations.
• Review contracts/projects and negotiate subcontract agreements; primary contact.
• Use Service Management System to plan work and ensure contract commitments.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections to keep equipment in good order.
• Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
• Coach and lead technicians; diagnose, repair, and upgrade equipment as needed.
• Support Sales with job site surveys and accuracy checks on estimates; provide training.
• Enforce safety policies and train on OSHA and Daikin safety procedures.
• Provide proactive feedback and participate in performance evaluations.
• Travel locally with possible overnight travel.

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for up to 10 HVAC technicians
• Ensure timely and cost-effective start-up of maintenance contracts, and efficient and timely installation of jobs, providing maintenance according to contract requirements, and ensuring customer concerns/complaints are resolved in a timely manner
• Perform ongoing review of contracts/projects, implementing corrective actions to ensure costs are consistent with financial plans. Responsible for negotiating subcontract agreements as required and serving as a primary contact
• Utilize the Service Management System and contract review process to establish an effective work plan which maximizes the capabilities of each team member and provide prompt customer service and ensure that requirements and commitments of each contract are met
• Perform and/or provide expert counsel on scheduled, preventive maintenance on any equipment/system under contract agreement by inspecting and checking equipment to ensure it is in satisfactory working order
• Respond to or assist other Service Technicians responding to emergency service calls to keep system downtime to a minimum.
• Provide counsel, coaching and leadership and/or analyze, troubleshoot, repair, and restore equipment/systems to full operation and recommend revisions/replacements/upgrades when necessary for effectiveness or in cases of obsolescence
• Support Sales by assisting with job site surveys, reviewing estimates for accuracy, participating in sales promotion programs, and providing technical training and guidance. Participates in the Estimate Review Process as required
• Contribute to accident and illness prevention by ensuring that safe work practices are implemented, and that the work environment is safe; provide safety training as required by OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
• Provide timely, proactive feedback (positive or negative), in order to reinforce positive results or reduce potential call backs due to similar incidents
• Actively participate in performance evaluations of Service technicians, providing feedback on technical skills, attitude, thoroughness, teamwork and developmental suggestions for technician
• Keeps current and provides training on all Daikin Applied products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair Regular local travel requirements with some overnight travel

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
• 7+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

• The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $42.50 - $68.39.
• The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls.
• Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law.
