PURPOSE
The Service Technician - HVAC is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment. This position works with live electrical components and performs piping installation and maintenance, welding, soldering, and brazing, as well as service and repair of refrigeration equipment, boilers, and pumps. The Service Technician - HVAC provides high-quality service while building and maintaining strong customer relationships in support of our “Client for Life” philosophy. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities

- Read, interpret, and apply electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Complete required service documentation and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Safely work with refrigerants, electrical systems, chemicals, and natural gas in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Operate tools and equipment required to perform assigned work safely and effectively.
- Climb and work from ladders and navigate stairs as required to access equipment and complete service tasks.
- Accurately record and report daily labor hours, equipment usage, and other required job information.
Minimum Education & Experience Required To Perform Essential Functions
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a five-year Local 33 Apprenticeship Program, vocational/technical school program, or equivalent training.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Working knowledge of computers and job-related software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Universal refrigerant certification or license, as required.
- Applicable state and trade licenses or certifications, which may include HVAC, refrigeration, hydronic, and plumbing.
- Universal CFC certification, as applicable.
- OSHA 10-Hour and/or OSHA 30-Hour certification, as required.
- Completion of required safety training and certifications.

- Maintain a professional appearance, including good personal hygiene and a clean uniform, and wear required work boots and safety equipment.
- Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and provide effective solutions.
- Demonstrate safe, responsible, and attentive driving practices.
- Possess the manual dexterity necessary to safely use tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to work an eight-hour shift and participate in an on-call rotation, including after-hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Significant field and client interactions on construction job sites, which may require prolonged periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs.
- May work in varying temperatures and weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and other environmental conditions.
