Job summary

Ohio CAT is seeking a Caterpillar Service Technician focused on welding and mechanical duties for heavy off-road equipment. The role emphasizes welding tasks, with related fabrication, machining, and blueprint interpretation while maintaining safety and efficiency in a fast-paced shop.

You will work with a team to service Caterpillar equipment, applying strong mechanical skills and a commitment to ongoing learning and development in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two+ years of welding experience, with heavy equipment experience.
• Specific welding experience to include MIG, TIG, arc, plasma cutting, and line bore welding.
• Adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, machining, and mechanical duties related to heavy off-road equipment and component service and repair.
• Welding and fabrication, general machining, and general mechanical tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

What You’ll Do

• As a Caterpillar Service Technician, the welder performs welding, machining, and general mechanical duties relating to heavy off-road equipment and component service and repair. The primary focus is on welding tasks, which may include general mechanical work, such as tearing down components and equipment for welding.
• Welding and fabrication, general machining, and general mechanical tasks will all be involved.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Strong organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills, good communicator, team-oriented, good customer service
• Needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have very good time management skills
• Must have a desire to approach training and education as a life-long process.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
• Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
• Dexterity Normal
• Repetitive Motions: Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
