Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Service Technician diagnoses and completes repairs on customer vehicles in a professional, timely manner while ensuring quality repairs at a fair cost to the customer.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

The Service Technician reports directly to the Service management team. The Service Technician will communicate with all relevant co-workers regarding the daily course of duties related to directives, objectives, and timely completion of open repair orders.

The Service Technician will work closely with co-workers to coordinate customer service requirements and repair strategies, providing excellent customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Plan daily repair strategies with the service team based on job priorities.
2. Determine work required from the repair order.
3. Diagnose vehicle issues to verify customer complaints and plan repairs.
4. Complete repairs efficiently within the allotted time.
5. Perform quality repairs to minimize shop comebacks and unnecessary expenses.
6. Submit complete and accurate repair write-ups.
7. Road test vehicles to verify repairs (if possessing a CDL).
8. Post time manually and digitally on an ongoing basis.
9. Ensure cores are returned and warranty parts are properly tagged and stored.
10. Coordinate with the parts department for needed parts.
11. Maintain a clean shop environment, including trash disposal, tool storage, and organizing cords and lights.
12. Maintain shop tools and notify management of repairs needed.
13. Assist in preparing accurate repair estimates.
14. Update the Service Manager regularly on repair status.
15. Work safely, avoiding hazards to yourself, others, and vehicles.
16. Provide and maintain a full set of hand and air tools.
17. Leave vehicles in a clean condition, using seat covers and floor mats.
18. Be punctual for shifts, lunch, and breaks.
19. Limit diagnosis to two hours unless approved by the Service Manager.
20. Report additional repairs immediately.
21. Wear safety glasses at all times on the shop floor.
22. Follow all regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal and safety standards.
23. Conduct oneself professionally, respecting the importance of customers and the business.
24. Prioritize company, customer, and safety considerations daily.
