Job summary

Kenworth Sales Co. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Service Technician (2nd Shift) to join our team and perform high-quality repairs on customer equipment while recommending additional services as needed.

The shift runs 3:30pm–Midnight and compensation starts at $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience. Responsibilities include receiving repair orders, completing work timely, advising customers and Shop Foreman of recommended service changes, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in medium or heavy truck repair.
• Outstanding mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• VA State Inspector certification or willingness to obtain.
• Valid Class A or B CDL or willingness to obtain.
• Paccar, Cummins, and CAT Certifications or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Performs work directed in order and in a timely and thorough manner. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

JOB SUMMARY

QUALIFICATIONS

• A VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it
• A valid class A or B CDL or the willingness to obtain one
• Paccar, Cummins, and CAT Certifications or willingness to obtain
• Personal motivation and self-reliance
• Desire to be the driver of team success
• Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• High school diploma or the equivalent
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

WORKING CONDITIONS

• This is a physically demanding position.
• Will stand six to eight hours per shift.
• Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment.
• Will be exposed to noise,vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
