Job summary

Kenworth Sales Company is seeking a Service Technician to join the Roanoke, VA team. This role performs high-quality repairs on customer equipment and makes service recommendations based on technician findings.

Responsibilities include handling repair orders, executing work safely and efficiently, and maintaining thorough records. Candidates should have 2–3 years of truck repair experience, relevant certifications, and a valid CDL. This is a drug-free workplace with pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it; CDL preferred.
• High school diploma or the equivalent; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Receive repair orders from Shop Foreman and plan repairs.
• Perform repairs to required standards and document time and work performed.
• Advise Shop Foreman on recommended changes to services ordered by customers.
• Identify additional repairs and communicate recommendations to Shop Foreman.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, tools, and servicing techniques.
• Attend required training sessions and apply learnings to work.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour Depending on Experience!!

Job Summary

The primary function of the Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment, and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician in the course of the servicing.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Performs work directed in order and in a timely and thorough manner. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance
• Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results
• A VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it
• A valid class A or B CDL or the willingness to obtain one
• Personal motivation and self-reliance
• Desire to be the driver of team success
• Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• High school diploma or the equivalent
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

Working Conditions

• This is a physically demanding position.
• Will stand six to eight hours per shift.
• Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel.
• Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment.
• Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
