Job summary

Kenworth Sales Company is seeking a Service Technician to join our Chesapeake, VA team. The primary function is to perform high-quality repairs on customer equipment and recommend additional services as appropriate. This role requires 2–3 years of heavy truck repair experience and a valid CDL or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair.
• VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Valid Class A or B CDL or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• High school diploma or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman.
• Performs work in order and maintains high workmanship.
• Advises Shop Foreman of recommended changes in services.
• Determines if further repairs should be recommended and communicates to Shop Foreman.
• Maintains records of work performed and time clocked jobs.
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager.
• Performs additional repairs as required when any equipment is returned due to faulty workmanship.

Salary Minimum and Maximum: $20.00 - $48.00 per hour Depending on Experience!!

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Service Technician is to perform superior quality repairs to customer equipment, and make recommendations for further services as determined by the Technician in the course of the servicing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receives repair order assignments from Shop Foreman
• Performs work directed in order and in a timely and thorough manner. Maintains superior standard of workmanship in all services performed.
• Advises Shop Foreman of any recommended changes in services ordered by the customer
• Determines if any further repairs or servicing should be recommended to the customer, and communicates such recommendations to the Shop Foreman
• Maintains a level of training and experience with specialized equipment, machinery, and servicing techniques necessary for superior servicing of the customer’s equipment
• Attends training sessions as required by the Service Manager
• Performs additional repairs as required when any piece of equipment is returned by the customer because of the Technician’s faulty workmanship
• Maintains accurate work order records of work performed and time clocked jobs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in medium and/or heavy truck repair and maintenance
• Outstanding mechanical aptitude and skills necessary to produce top results
• A VA State Inspector's certification or willingness to obtain it
• A valid class A or B CDL or the willingness to obtain one
• Personal motivation and self-reliance
• Desire to be the driver of team success
• Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
• Excellent organization and communication skills
• High school diploma or the equivalent
• Ability to read, write and comprehend English instructions and information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This is a physically demanding position.
• Will stand six to eight hours per shift.
• Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel.
• Will lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Will use hand and power tools, hoist and test equipment.
• Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
