Milton CAT is seeking an experienced Component Rebuild Technician to disassemble and assemble hydraulic cylinders for rebuild or repair in our Earthmoving shop in Batavia, NY. The role requires knowledge of hydraulic components, engine and drivetrain systems, and proper testing procedures.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Experience with earthmoving shop equipment and CAT heavy equipment.
• Proficient in mechanical systems and problem solving with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components.
• Identify causes of failure through troubleshooting steps.
• Determine reusability of parts per Caterpillar guidelines.
• Order replacement parts ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
• Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems.
• Prepare inspections and service reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain professional appearance and adhere to policy.
• Be flexible to work after hours to meet customer needs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Overview

Milton CAT is seeking an experienced Component Rebuild Technician to work in our Earthmoving shop. The Component Rebuild Technician will be responsible for disassembling and assembling hydraulic cylinders for rebuild or repair. The successful technician will have knowledge of internal and external parts of hydraulic components and systems, engine and drivetrain components, and be familiar with how they work and operate, along with knowledge of proper testing procedures.

Pay Rate: Minimum starting wage of $30.69–$40.26 per hour based on location and experience. This is a union position.

Responsibilities

• Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts.
• Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
• Determine reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
• Order replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at time of order.
• Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components.
• Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems and components.
• Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
• Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
• Prepare inspection and appraisal reports.
• Prepare accurate and complete service reports timely.
• Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times adhering to company policy.
• Be flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three years experience as an Earthmoving Shop Technician on heavy equipment.
• Experience on CAT heavy equipment or similar equipment.
• Heavy equipment service/maintenance knowledge.
• Proficient in mechanical systems (transmissions, engines, hydraulics, etc.).
• Proficient in the use of a computer and related software (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Strong problem solving skills, detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong math skills.
• Able to lift more than 50 pounds.
• Able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced service environment.
• Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Background check and drug test required as part of pre-employment process.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

• Associate's degree in a related field.
