Job summary

AMERI-CANS in Summerville, SC is hiring full-time truck drivers. The role involves daily dispatch coordination, equipment maintenance, and serving sanitation units at customer sites. A valid license and clean record are required; CDL is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness; ability to pass a physical every two years.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers for service routes.
• Perform daily truck maintenance (refueling, cleaning).
• Service, clean and stock portable toilets and related equipment.
• Vacuum, clean and sanitize portable restrooms on site.
• Stock paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and water tanks.
• Adhere to traffic laws and drive safely.
• Repair portable restrooms onsite as needed.
• Secure cargo and balance within the vehicle.
• Report defects, accidents, and violations.
• Interact with customers professionally.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers daily for completing service routes


• Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)


• Service, clean and stock portable toilets, holding tanks, freshwater systems, hand-wash stations and restroom-shower trailers as needed.


• Vacuum pump, clean and sanitize portable restroom units on customer site.


• Stock/replenish paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap and refill water holding tanks.


• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws


• Repair portable restroom units onsite as necessary.


• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle


• Complying with truck driving rules and regulations


• Reporting defects, accidents, and violations


• Interacting with customers in a professional


• Clean and service rental equipment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent


• 1 year of truck driving experience preferred (CDL license not required, but preferred), and DOT medical card must be obtained prior to commencing employment


• A valid driver's license and safe clean driving record


• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles driven and the like.


• Physical fitness since Truck Drivers are required to pass a physical exam every two years.


• Hand-eye coordination, since they must coordinate their hands, legs, and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time on the roads.


• Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations which mandate that truck drivers must hear a forced whisper at 5 feet, have at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision and the ability to distinguish the colors of traffic lights.


• Adherence to a background check.


• Must have authorization to work in the United States of America. Some of the job sites that we support require U.S. American citizenship and a clean criminal history in order to access their sites.

Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are the representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time; move fingers and hands, ability to stoop, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and crouch. Perform the essential duties with minimal or no supervision. Lift and carry up to 50lbs and drag 185lbs.
