Job summary

TEC Equipment in North Las Vegas is seeking a skilled heavy-duty truck technician. This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks.

We offer in-house advanced training and cover travel costs for training. You will conduct inspections, repair engines, rebuild major components, and diagnose complex electrical issues while maintaining vehicle records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Proficient with diesel engines, transmissions, electrics, HVAC, hydraulics, steering and brakes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicles to proper operating condition.
• Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos.
• Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates and block reconditioning.
• Perform engine overhauls including replacing heads, rods and main bearings.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex wiring and electronic issues.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance and identify worn parts for repair or replacement.

Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition
• Perform advanced repairs and replace major components such as radiators, valve adjustments, and turbos
• Rebuild or repair major components such as transmissions, gear plates and block reconditioning
• Perform entire engine overhauls including replacing heads, rods and main bearings
• Troubleshoot and perform complex wiring repairs and diagnose and repair any electronic issues
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance services. Identify worn and damaged parts all parts to include major components, repairing, adjusting, or replacing as needed
• Maintain safe and organized work area
• Ability to be on task to meet shop quality and efficiency standards
• Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs
• Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
• Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
• Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes
• Must have own hand tools
• Highly proficient in the repair and diagnosis of all aspects of commercial trucks; such as diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts & differentials; electrical systems, HVAC systems, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes
• High expertise in troubleshooting using diagnostic software
• OEM Master Tech certifications & Cummins training preferred
• Proficient computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job (job requires frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, seeing, grasping, hearing, etc.)
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain predictable and reliable attendance and work in a safe and alert manner
• Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements. CDL license preferred but not required

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $30.04 to $37.55.
