Job summary

TEC Equipment is seeking a Heavy-Duty Truck Technician to perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair heavy-duty trucks. The role includes in-house advanced training opportunities, travel coverage for training, and a family-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities include inspections, routine maintenance, diagnostic testing, and maintaining accurate service records. CDL may be preferred but not required; ability to lift up to 50 lbs is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months practical experience in commercial 6 & 8 truck classes.
• Able to perform preventative maintenance services such as oil & transmission changes, replacement of light body components and lights & sensors.
• Proficient in the repair and diagnosis of diesel engines; interior & exterior cab components, hydraulic systems, steering systems, and brakes.
• Proficient in use of all tools of trade.
• Basic computer skills to input vehicle maintenance records and utilize diagnostic software.
• Be able to provide a detailed written analysis and computer input of the three C's (complaint, cause, correction) as well as details on any repairs.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job (frequent lifting/moving up to 50lbs, climbing, stooping, kneeling, etc.).
• CDL license preferred but not required.

• Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to troubleshoot issues and repair vehicle to proper operating condition.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance services and identify worn components; repair, adjust, or replace as needed.
• Troubleshooting with diagnostic software - charging systems, brakes, suspensions, A/C system.
• Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Ability to meet shop quality and efficiency standards.
• Maintain safe and organized work area.
• Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements and safety policies; EPA regulations.
• Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job.
• Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in training and reading publications.
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.

Overview

This position is primarily responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks. We offer in-house advanced-training opportunities - we are one of only three dealer groups in North America that is certified to conduct all Mack/Volvo training up to the master tech certification within our in-house Training Centers. We cover travel costs for our technicians to attend training. We also offer a family-oriented work environment.

• Follow all state and federal vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards; follow company policies, procedures, and safety and EPA regulations
• Must use all safety equipment necessary for the job
• Maintain current knowledge of job and technical skills by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and regulation publications
• Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $25.34 to $31.68.
