ThompsonGas, a trusted propane provider, is seeking a Propane Service Technician to join our team. You will safely deliver, install, and repair propane systems and appliances while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires a valid CDL-A or CDL-B with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements, 2+ years of propane experience, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. On-call rotations and working outdoors are expected.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid CDL-A or CDL-B.
• Valid Tanker Endorsement.
• Valid Hazmat Endorsement.
• 2+ years of propane or related crossover experience (HVAC, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanic).
• Deep understanding of propane safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Tank Delivery and Placement: Transport propane tanks to customer sites and position them safely.
• Excavation and Trenching: Dig trenches for underground propane lines per local codes.
• Piping Installation: Cut, measure and install propane lines with proper fittings.
• Leak Detection and Testing: Inspect connections and perform pressure tests for safety.
• Customer Interaction: Explain installation details and safety procedures to customers.

The Service Technician is responsible for the safe delivery, repair, and installation of propane and appliances all while delivering exceptional customer service.

Job Details

• Full-Time Position

Position Responsibilities

• Tank Delivery and Placement: Transport propane tanks to customer sites using a company vehicle, carefully maneuver and position tanks in designated areas, including lifting and setting tanks using appropriate equipment.
• Excavation and Trenching: Dig trenches for underground propane lines, ensuring proper depth and distance according to local codes.
• Piping Installation: Cut, measure, and install propane lines, connecting them to the tank and appliances using appropriate fittings and techniques.
• Leak Detection and Testing: Thoroughly inspect all connections for leaks using leak detection tools, and perform pressure tests to ensure system integrity.
• Customer Interaction: Explain installation details to customers, answer questions about propane usage and safety procedures, and address any concerns.
• Documentation: Complete necessary documentation on a tablet, including installation reports, customer information, and compliance checklists.
• Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and explain technical information clearly.

Required Qualifications

• Possession of a valid CDL-A or CDL-B
• Valid Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
• 2+ years of propane or related crossover experience (HVAC, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanic)
• Deep understanding of propane safety regulations, including proper handling procedures and emergency response.
• Capability to lift propane tanks up to 75 lbs., dig trenches, and work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to safely work in small or enclosed spaces
• Availability to work on-call rotations as needed (includes evenings and weekends)
• Knowledge of propane system components, installation methods, and leak detection techniques is a plus
• Previous propane industry experience preferred
• Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

• Primarily outdoors, exposed to weather elements.
• May involve working in confined spaces or tight areas.
• Potential for physical exertion due to lifting and handling heavy propane tanks.
• Performs other duties as assigned
