ThompsonGas in Georgia is hiring a Propane Service Technician to join our outdoor-focused team. The role involves safe delivery, repair, and installation of propane systems and appliances while delivering exceptional customer service in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities include tank placement, trenching, piping, leak testing, and documenting reports on a tablet. CDL-A/B, tanker and hazmat endorsements, and 2+ years propane experience are required.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A or CDL-B is required.
• Tanker and Hazmat endorsements required.
• 2+ years of propane or related crossover experience (HVAC, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanic).
• Deep understanding of propane safety regulations and proper handling procedures.
• Ability to lift propane tanks up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• On-call rotations including evenings and weekends.
• Knowledge of propane system components, installation methods, and leak detection is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Tank delivery and placement at customer sites using company vehicle.
• Excavation and trenching for underground propane lines per local codes.
• Piping installation and connections to tanks and appliances.

Pay Range: $26.00-$30.00 per hour based on experience

The Service Technician is responsible for the safe delivery, repair, and installation of propane and appliances all while delivering exceptional customer service.

Job Details:

• Full-Time Position

Position Responsibilities:

Tank Delivery and Placement:

Transport propane tanks to customer sites using a company vehicle, carefully maneuver and position tanks in designated areas, including lifting and setting tanks using appropriate equipment.

Excavation and Trenching:

Dig trenches for underground propane lines, ensuring proper depth and distance according to local codes.

Piping Installation:

Cut, measure, and install propane lines, connecting them to the tank and appliances using appropriate fittings and techniques.

Leak Detection and Testing:

Thoroughly inspect all connections for leaks using leak detection tools, and perform pressure tests to ensure system integrity.

Customer Interaction:

Explain installation details to customers, answer questions about propane usage and safety procedures, and address any concerns.

Documentation:

Complete necessary documentation on a tablet, including installation reports, customer information, and compliance checklists.

Customer Service Skills:

Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and explain technical information clearly.

Required Qualifications:

• Possession of a valid CDL-A or CDL-B
• Valid Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
• 2+ years of propane or related crossover experience (HVAC, Gas Fitting, Plumbing, Mechanic)
• Deep understanding of propane safety regulations, including proper handling procedures and emergency response.
• Capability to lift propane tanks up to 75 lbs., dig trenches, and work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to safely work in small or enclosed spaces
• Availability to work on-call rotations as needed (includes evenings and weekends)
• Knowledge of propane system components, installation methods, and leak detection techniques is a plus
• Previous propane industry experience preferred
• Other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

• Primarily outdoors, exposed to weather elements.
• May involve working in confined spaces or tight areas.
• Potential for physical exertion due to lifting and handling heavy propane tanks.
• Performs other duties as assigned
