Job summary

The City of Springfield's Service Center is seeking a Service Technician to work on automotive and construction equipment, performing tire changes, routine maintenance, and fuel deliveries to city assets.

Applicants should have at least one year of hands-on experience with oils and lubricants, basic mechanical repairs, and tire mounting, plus a valid driver's license. A Class A CDL with tank endorsement should be obtained within the probationary period; ASE certification is desirable.

Our Service Center is looking for a Service Technician to join the team! If you are looking for a role where you get to see a wide variety of vehicles and equipment and have a crucial hand in the betterment of our community, you'll want to check out this position!

Members of our Service Center are responsible for changing and fixing rubber tires on a variety of automotive and construction equipment, delivering fuel to city equipment, and performing routine service and maintenance on equipment.

Qualifications And Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

• One year of experience in servicing automotive or construction equipment with oils and lubricants; performing minor mechanical repairs on automotive or construction equipment; installing and repairing tires; or any combination of these.

Preferred

• Experience in both vehicle maintenance and mounting automotive or construction tires.

Licensing/Certification

• Must possess a valid driver's license;
• Must obtain and maintain a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tank endorsement within the following guidelines: pass written portion of exam within 90 days of employment and skills test portion within the probationary period;
• ASE certification is desirable.
