Position Overview:
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer and company equipment in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. This role works on a wide range of equipment including tractors, mowers, small engines, plows, spreaders/salters, and related outdoor power equipment. Technicians are expected to follow company procedures, complete all assigned repair orders (ROs), and participate in required training to maintain technical proficiency.
What You'll Do:
- 1.Diagnostics & Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on:
- Tractors and compact utility equipment
- Lawn mowers (residential and commercial)
- Small engine equipment
- Snow plows and salters/spreaders
- Perform repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
- Accurately document all work performed on assigned Repair Orders (ROs).
- 2. Repair Orders (ROs)
- Complete all assigned ROs efficiently and thoroughly.
- Follow proper RO procedures, including labor time tracking, notes, and parts usage.
- Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding findings, additional repair needs, or delays.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards set by management.
- 3. Training & Development
- Attend and successfully complete all required OEM, safety, and company-assigned training.
- Stay current on product updates, service bulletins, and repair techniques.
- Apply training knowledge directly to daily service work.
- 4. Shop & Safety Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Use tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices properly and responsibly.
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and company policies.
- 5. Team & Customer Focus
- Work collaboratively with Service Advisors, Parts, and Management.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with coworkers and customers.
- Support overall shop efficiency and team goals.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Service Technician or small engine/mechanical technician.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Ability to work on a variety of equipment types and brands.
- Willingness and ability to attend required trainings.
- Ability to complete assigned ROs accurately and on time.
- Basic computer skills for RO documentation.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- OEM certifications or manufacturer training experience.
- Experience with tractors, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Snow and ice equipment experience (plows, salters, spreaders).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work with tools for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
Performance Expectations
- Complete assigned ROs with accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship with minimal comebacks.
- Attend all required trainings.
