Job summary

MarineMax Brand is seeking a Marine/Service Technician in Florida to repair and overhaul boats, machinery and trailers. You will diagnose engines, transmissions, drives, and generators, discuss damage with customers, and perform mechanical repairs including engine and outdrive removal, rebuilding components, and wiring systems.

You will also advise customers and insurers on repairs, execute warranty work per guidelines, and conduct diagnostic water testing while maintaining tools and safety

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing marine engines and propulsion systems.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to customers and service staff.
• Proficiency with electrical systems, fuel systems, ignition and starting components.

Responsibilities

• Inspect boats and discuss damage or malfunctions with the service advisor or customer.
• Diagnose and repair marine engines, transmissions, drives and generators.
• Perform mechanical repairs incl. removing/installing engines or outdrives, inspecting parts, and rebuilding components.
• Recycle and supervise warranty work per manufacturer and MarineMax guidelines.
• Operate hydraulic jack/hoist and perform water testing during diagnostics.
• Advise customers or insurers on necessary repairs and complete work within timelines.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition; perform other duties as assigned.

OVERVIEW:

The Marine/Service Technician is responsible for the repair and overhaul of boats, machinery and trailers.

KEY TASKS:

• Examine boat and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction with the service advisor or customer.
• P erform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and transmissions/drives/generators.
• Perform mechanical repair work such as:
  • remove engine, transom or outdrive
  • disassemble unit and inspect parts for wear
  • overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems
  • rebuild parts such as engine cylinder blocks
  • rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel
  • replace and adjust taillights
  • install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers
• Operate a hydraulic jack or hoist as needed.
• A dvise customers and/or insurance adjusters as to necessary repairs.
• Complete repair work utilizing service scheduler and SSO’s within the established timeframe
• Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacture’s and MarineMax guidelines
• Safely operate MarineMax and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations
• Maintain MarineMax tools in good condition and according to guidelines
• Other duties as assigned
