Job summary

MarineMax Brand is seeking a skilled Marine/Service Technician in New Jersey to repair and overhaul boats, engines, transmissions, and related equipment. You will discuss findings with customers, perform diagnostics, and execute repairs while meeting warranty guidelines and safety standards.

Responsibilities include removing and inspecting engines, overhauling components, installing accessories, and advising customers on repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and repairing marine engines and drive systems.
• Ability to inspect and discuss damage or malfunctions with customers.
• Proficient in testing and performing repairs to engines, generators, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Examine boats and discuss damage with the service advisor or customer.
• Diagnose and repair marine engines, transmissions, drives and generators.
• Remove engine, transom or outdrive when needed.
• Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear.
• Overhaul or replace carburetors, generators, starters and pumps.
• Install and repair accessories like radios, heaters and windshield wipers.
• Advise customers on necessary repairs and next steps.
• Complete repair work within the scheduled timeframe and per warranties.
• Safely operate vessels during diagnostic water tests.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

OVERVIEW:

The Marine/Service Technician is responsible for the repair and overhaul of boats, machinery and trailers.

KEY TASKS:

• Examine boat and discuss the nature and extent of damage or malfunction with the service advisor or customer.


• P erform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines and transmissions/drives/generators.


• Perform mechanical repair work such as:
  
  
  
  • Remove engine, transom or outdrive
  
  
  • Disassemble unit and inspect parts for wear
  
  
  • Overhaul or replace carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems
  
  
  • Rebuild parts such as engine cylinder blocks
  
  
  • Rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel
  
  
  • Replace and adjust taillights
  
  
  • Install and repair accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers
  
  
  
  


• Operate a hydraulic jack or hoist as needed.


• A dvise customers and/or insurance adjusters as to necessary repairs.


• Complete repair work utilizing service scheduler and SSO’s within the established timeframe


• Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacture’s and MarineMax guidelines


• Safely operate MarineMax and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing operations


• Maintain MarineMax tools in good condition and according to guidelines


• Other duties as assigned
