The Service Technician - Waste Division is responsible for performing field service, sanitation, maintenance, transportation support, and operational duties related to public facilities, restroom units, transit stations, portable restrooms, and company equipment.

This role focuses on hands‑on field operations to ensure facilities and equipment remain clean, functional, safe, and compliant with company, client, environmental, and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, customer‑service oriented, and capable of working independently in various field environments while exercising sound judgment and professionalism at all times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Field Service & Operations

Service, clean, sanitize, deodorize, and maintain restroom units, portable restrooms, transit stations, and public facilities.

Operate pressure washing, pumping, vacuum, sanitation, and related service equipment safely and properly.

Transport supplies, tools, equipment, and materials to designated service locations using company vehicles.

Replenish restroom supplies, including soap, paper products, sanitizers, and related materials.

Inspect facilities, restroom units, equipment, and work areas for damage, operational deficiencies, vandalism, or safety hazards.

Perform minor maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance as assigned.

Accurately document completed services, inspections, maintenance needs, incidents, and field activity.

Respond to emergency service requests, route adjustments, and operational needs as directed.

Follow assigned service routes, schedules, and dispatch instructions efficiently.

Maintain clean, organized, and operational company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

Secure tools, equipment, supplies, and materials properly during transportation.

Maintain professional interactions with customers, clients, municipal representatives, coworkers, and the public.

Waste Handling & Environmental Compliance

Handle, collect, transport, and dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures and applicable environmental regulations.

Transport waste only to approved waste disposal or treatment facilities.

Follow all sanitation, spill prevention, contamination control, and exposure‑control procedures.

Properly use required PPE when handling waste, cleaning chemicals, sanitation materials, and potentially contaminated areas.

Immediately report spills, accidents, environmental concerns, equipment failures, or unsafe conditions to management.

Maintain appropriate documentation related to waste collection, transportation, disposal, and service activities.

Equipment & Vehicle Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles and field service equipment in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Conduct routine vehicle and equipment inspections before and after use.

Report vehicle, equipment, or mechanical issues promptly to management.

Maintain vehicles, equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance within the scope of training and authorization.

Ensure equipment is properly stored, secured, and maintained.

Operate pressure washers, pumps, vacuums, generators, hand tools, power tools, and other assigned equipment safely.

Immediately report accidents, property damage, equipment damage, or safety concerns.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, operational protocols, and workplace policies.

Comply with applicable OSHA, EPA, environmental, sanitation, and other regulatory requirements.

Attend and participate in required safety meetings, operational training, and compliance programs.

Maintain all required company certifications and training applicable to assigned duties.

Exercise safe work practices at all times and immediately report unsafe conditions or workplace incidents.

Refrain from operating company vehicles or equipment while impaired, distracted, fatigued, or otherwise unfit for duty.

Properly use and maintain all assigned PPE and safety equipment.

Follow established procedures for working around traffic, construction areas, public facilities, electrical hazards, chemicals, waste materials, and moving equipment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to safely operate company vehicles and field service equipment.

Previous experience in facilities maintenance, sanitation, waste management, field service, pressure washing, construction, landscaping, or a related field preferred.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, pumps, vacuums, and other field equipment.

Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Ability to interact professionally with customers, clients, coworkers, and members of the public.

Desired Experience

Cleaning and sanitation equipment operation.

Basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Basic vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Route management and field documentation.

Waste handling and disposal procedures.

Customer service and professional communication.

Familiarity with public facilities, transit stations, portable restrooms, or sanitation operations.

Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and schedules.

Ability to use mobile devices, service applications, GPS, or electronic field documentation systems.

Work Environment

Primarily outdoor and field‑based work environment.

Exposure to varying weather conditions, cleaning chemicals, sanitation environments, waste materials, fumes, odors, dust, noise, an moving machinery/equipment.

Work may occur in high‑traffic public areas, construction zones, roadside environments, transit facilities, and confined spaces.

May require early morning, evening, weekend, holiday, overtime, or emergency‑response work based on operational needs.

Employees may work independently or as part of a field service team.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, climb, lift, push, pull, and walk for extended periods.

Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.

Ability to safely enter and exit company vehicles multiple times per shift.

Ability to operate pressure washers, pumps, vacuums, hand tools, and other field equipment.

Ability to work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods.

Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and around sanitation and waste‑related materials.
