Job summary

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. in Lexington, KY is seeking a Service Technician to perform inspection, testing, adjustment, and repair of mechanical and electrical components in air compressors and pump systems in commercial and industrial settings.

This full-time role requires hands-on problem solving and strong adherence to safety procedures. The ideal candidate has a HS Diploma, mechanical aptitude, and at least 3 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• Minimum of 3 years related experience preferred.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift at least 70 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Flexibility in work schedule.
• Basic electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with customers to understand system issues, discuss malfunctions, and provide follow-up recommendations.
• Inspects equipment by visually examining, listening, and using diagnostic methods to identify problems.
• Dismantles units to access and assess internal components.
• Inspects, measures, and evaluates parts for wear, misalignment, or damage.
• Repairs equipment by removing and replacing defective parts, realigning couplings or shafts, and fabricating or modifying components.
• Measures, cuts, and installs piping as needed for system functionality.
• Tests repaired equipment by starting and adjusting controls per manufacturer's specifications.
• Drives and maintains a service van, ensuring it is serviced regularly and kept in good working condition.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Measures, cuts, threads, and install piping as needed for system functionality.
• Tests repaired equipment by starting and adjusting controls per manufacturer's specifications and verifies proper operation with the customer.
• Drives and maintains a service van, ensuring it is serviced regularly and kept in good working condition .
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude is required
• Minimum of 3 years related experience preferred.
• Additional transferable skills to be considered include automotive/diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, industrial HVAC/plumbing, electrical, heavy equipment mechanics, millwrights, mechanical installations/services.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility in work schedule isrequired
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Above average computer skills to include working knowledge of Office, Word, Excel and other web-based apps
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
• Bending, stooping, twisting, and standing for long periods of time will be required
• Position is subject to various climate conditions
