Job summary

Heritage Tractor in Freeport, IL is seeking a Full-Time Service Technician to perform basic diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on agricultural and turf equipment. You will follow manuals, stay current on product knowledge, and maintain a safe, organized work area. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an associates degree preferred.

Valid driver’s license is required; forklift license is a plus. Experience with Service Advisor and basic computer tasks is beneficial.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience performing service repairs.
• Ability to perform basic repairs using manuals and tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Proficient with Service Advisor and basic computer functions.
• Valid driver’s license required; forklift license preferred.

• Participates in required training to develop skills.
• Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitors’ products.
• Keeps vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment in proper condition.
• Adheres to safety rules and completes required reports and timecards.
• Operates diagnostic vehicles and drives equipment as needed.

Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $24.00 - $47.00 Hourly

Purpose

Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
• Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
• Maintains proper condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
• Accounts for all time on a timecard and for all material used in performing assigned duties
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

• 1+ years of experience performing service repairs
• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
• Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
• Basic Service Technician certification preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
• Valid drivers license is required
• Forklift license preferred
• Works in environment inside and outside all temperatures
• Physical requirements other than lifting include bending, squatting, hand dexterity, climbing 6-13 feet
