Job summary

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Inc. (EMMI) is hiring a full-time Field Service Technician/Service Technician to service water and wastewater equipment.

You will diagnose, repair, and maintain electric motors, pump systems, and controls at customer sites, including after-hours emergencies and travel as required. The role requires reading schematics, following NFPA 70E PPE standards, and safely operating tools in outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Experience with electric motors, pump systems, and electrical controls.
• Ability to read schematics and manuals for repair tasks.
• Capable of following NFPA 70E PPE requirements and safety procedures.
• Proficient with mechanical hand and power tools for maintenance.
• Able to work in outdoor, non-climate-controlled environments.
• Must be able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Complete on-site service orders and inspection records accurately.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain motors, pumps, and controls.
• Provide emergency repairs after hours and travel as needed.
• Read manuals and schematics to perform tasks safely.
• Evaluate systems and recommend improvements; report issues promptly.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization at job sites.

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Inc. (EMMI) is a fast paced and rapidly expanding company headquartered in New Port Richey, Florida with a current staff of over 950 employees in twenty states.

Field Service Technician Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure completion of all required on-site documentation, including service orders and inspection sheets, and confirm accuracy of customer information
• Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of electric motors and pump systems
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of electric motors, pump systems and controls both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed
• Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, general literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs
• Perform systems controls evaluations including in-field analysis and recommendations
• Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the Manager and or Service Manager in a timely manner
• Comply with safety regulations. Maintain clean and orderly job site work areas.
• Practicing safe driving skills to and from job sites throughout the day. Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required
• May perform work requiring the use of winch, pulley, hoist and/or A Frames

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of electric motors, pump and electrical controls, including knowledge of the mechanical operation, associated hazards, and proper usage of the equipment
• Ability to interpret schematics and operational manuals for practical applications on repair and maintenance tasks
• Ability to take preventative safety measures to avoid electrical shock, limit exposure to loud noises, and prevent personal injury by using personal protective equipment, including the use of NFPA 70E protective equipment when applicable
• Skilled usage of mechanical tools utilized to repair and maintain electric motors and pump systems and their components
• Ability to perform duties in non-climate-controlled environments such as outdoor weather conditions and non-weather related wet, humid and/or extreme heat conditions
• Position requires extended periods of standing, extended periods of sitting while driving, as well as bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and the use of hands to finger, grasp, handle and feel often in repetitive motion
• Ability to handle heavy work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.
• Requires the ability to speak in a manner that conveys detailed or important instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Ability to hear by receiving detailed verbal information or by making distinctions in sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
• Visual sharpness to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment in a safe manner with or without correction.
• Motor Vehicle Record must be in good standing and comply with Company policy
